Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion. As a small business, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality and integrity, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence.

If you’re thinking about working with J&D GoldPro, you probably have questions. Below you'll find answers to the most common ones I hear from small and mid-sized, service-based and community-minded business owners.

If you don’t see your question here, visit our Pricing page for package details or head to Contact to book a Clarity Call.

1. Who do you work with?

I primarily support small and mid-sized, service-based businesses and community-minded entrepreneurs, consultants, coaches, professional services firms, and mission-driven organizations that want clean books, clear insights, and a trusted financial thought partner.  If you care about both impact and profitability, we’ll likely be a good fit.

2. Do I need to be located in Massachusetts?

No. While I’m based in Massachusetts and love serving local businesses, I work virtually with clients across the U.S. using secure, cloud-based tools.

If you can access email and Zoom, we can work together.

3. What’s the difference between your main packages?

I offer three core monthly support levels plus a one-time deep-dive:

  • Clarity Essentials – Monthly bookkeeping for smaller, simpler service-based businesses that want clean, accurate books and basic insights.

  • Clarity Growth – For growing businesses that want bookkeeping plus a monthly financial clarity meeting to talk through results and next steps.

  • Clarity Partner (Fractional CFO Lite) – For scaling businesses that want a true financial thought partner, deeper insight, and regular CEO-level strategy support.

  • The Clarity Audit – A one-time, 90-minute deep dive into your books and financial picture, with a clear, written roadmap for what to do next.

You can see pricing and high-level scope on the Our Core Services and Pricing pages, and we’ll talk through what fits best on a Clarity Call.

4. What is The Clarity Audit, and who is it for?

The Clarity Audit is a focused, one-time engagement where we:

  • Review your current books and financial setup

  • Spend 90 minutes together walking through what’s working, what’s not, and why

  • Create a simple, written roadmap with prioritized next steps

It’s ideal if you:

  • Feel overwhelmed, behind, or in the dark about your numbers

  • Aren’t sure whether you’re ready for monthly support

  • Want a clear, low-risk starting point before you commit to anything long term

You can use the roadmap to DIY, implement with your current bookkeeper/CPA, or continue with J&D GoldPro.

5. My books are a mess and I’m embarrassed. Can you still help?

Yes. If you’re behind or things are messy, we start with a Clean-Up & Catch-Up Project.

Together, we’ll define:

  • How many months (or years) need attention

  • Which accounts and systems are involved

  • Whether we’re simply catching up or also restructuring your chart of accounts

After the clean-up, you’ll have the option to move into ongoing monthly support so you don’t end up back in the same place.

6. Do you offer one-time clean-up or catch-up work?

7. How much do your services cost?

Pricing depends on:

  • The complexity and volume of your business (transactions, accounts, AP/AR)

  • The level of support you choose (Essentials, Growth, Partner)

  • Whether we need to do a Clean-Up & Catch-Up Project first

You’ll find “starting at” pricing for each package on the Pricing page. During a Clarity Call, I’ll recommend a level and provide a clear quote so there are no surprises.

8. Is there a long-term contract? What if I want to stop?

I believe in long-term relationships, not long-term traps.

Most monthly engagements are:

  • Month-to-month with a 30-day notice to pause or end

  • Governed by a simple agreement that spells out scope, expectations, and boundaries

If something isn’t working, we talk about it. The goal is a relationship that feels sustainable and supportive for both of us.

9. Do you file taxes?

I do not prepare or file tax returns myself.  Instead, I:

  • Keep your books clean, accurate, and properly organized

  • Provide financial reports that make your CPA or tax preparer’s job easier

  • Collaborate with your tax professional (or refer you to one if needed)

Think of J&D GoldPro as your year-round financial clarity and bookkeeping partner, working alongside your tax expert.

10. Do you handle payroll?

I don’t run full-service payroll in-house, but I:

  • Help make sure payroll entries are correctly reflected in your books

  • Coordinate with your payroll provider (e.g., Gusto, ADP, etc.) so everything stays aligned

  • Can refer you to trusted payroll solutions if you don’t already have one

You keep a dedicated payroll provider; I make sure your books tell the full story.

11. What systems and software do you use?

I primarily use:

  • QuickBooks Online for bookkeeping

  • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar) for collaboration and documentation

  • Email and Zoom for communication and meetings

  • Canva for simple, branded client-facing visuals (like custom summaries/overviews)

If you’re currently using another system, we’ll talk about whether it makes sense to convert or keep as-is.

12. How do you protect my financial information?

Protecting your information is non-negotiable. I:

  • Use secure, reputable cloud-based tools (like QuickBooks Online and Google Workspace)

  • Limit access to only the systems and documents needed for your engagement

  • Follow strong password and access practices

  • Avoid sending sensitive data through unsecured channels

We can also discuss any specific security or privacy concerns you have before we start.

13. How often will we meet or talk?

It depends on your package:

  • Clarity Essentials – Primarily email support and quarterly check-ins or video reviews

  • Clarity GrowthMonthly financial clarity meetings (around 45–60 minutes)

  • Clarity PartnerMonthly CEO/strategy meetings (60–90 minutes), plus quarterly mini-forecasting

You can always email in between; I’ll respond within the agreed-upon timeframe.

14. What do you need from me to get started?

To do my best work, I’ll need:

  • Access to your accounting software (or statements if we’re starting from scratch)

  • Access to relevant bank and credit card accounts (view-only where possible)

  • Any existing reports from your CPA or prior bookkeeper

  • A bit of time and honesty about what’s really going on in your business

We’ll walk through a clear onboarding checklist together so you’re never left guessing.

15. I’m not sure which package I need. How do I decide?

You don’t have to decide alone.

We can start with either:

  • The Clarity Audit – if you want a deep, one-time review and roadmap, or

  • A free Clarity Call – where we talk through your current situation, your goals, and which level of support matches both your needs and your budget

From there, I’ll make a recommendation and you can decide what feels right.

16. What’s the first step if I’m interested?

The easiest first step is to:

  • Go to the Contact page

  • Book a Clarity Call or send a message with a bit about your business and what you’re looking for

From there, we’ll decide together whether to begin with The Clarity Audit, a Clean-Up & Catch-Up Project, or a monthly package.
